FANUC machined a sample pump housing component, using ALPHACAM from Vero Software, to demonstrate the capabilities of their Robodrill D21M, at the MACH exhibition.

ALPHACAM Area Manager Martin Measures says the partnership between machine tool and software ensures the end user manufacturer achieves the best results from their capital investment.

The machine is a 3-axis 21-station tool changer mill with a 5-axis option interfaced directly into the controller, giving it the capability for 3, 4 and 5-axis high speed machining from a small footprint.

ALPHACAM’s Waveform Roughing strategy was utilised to produce the component, giving increased depth of cut while pulling less power than conventional roughing. “The production process also included high capacity drilling and rigid tapping M6, M8 and M24 tapped holes. Visitors to the FANUC stand were very impressed at seeing a small machine removing metal at high speeds using a high powered spindle.

“As ALPHACAM is a preferred CAM supplier to FANUC, it means customers don’t just get a get a machine tool, they get a combination of the right machine and software which is a perfect fit for all their manufacturing needs. FANUC is the total solutions provider for them.”
